Bective ran out easy winners in this 5th round of Corn Na Boinne cup game against an under strength Moylagh team in Bective on Wednesday evening in perfect conditions. Moylagh opened the scoring with a pointed free kick before Paul Lyness fired over on 4 minutes. However in the space of 2 minutes Sean Keating had found the net twice after fast approach form the Bective midfield and forwards. Moylagh rallied strongly and bagged their first goal on 9 minutes. Cathal Mc Connell raced clear to shoot over the bar on 11 minutes after some good possession football. Colin O’Rourke replaced the injured Kevin Brennan and kept up the fast pace. Bective backs and support play made it difficult to score against and after a lean scoring period Brian Cantwell pointed from a free kick on 18 minutes, with further points from Marty Mulhall, Mc Connell, Cantwell and again Mulhall. Moylagh replied with 2 pointed free kicks but Bective’s fast attacking delivered 2 further goals and a Lyness point. Half Time score: Bective 4 – 8, Moylagh 1 – 3.
Moylagh, although limited by low numbers, fought their way back into the game and scored 4 points to Bective’s 2 points in the first 13 minutes of the second half. Bective again stormed through the middle and Con Smith fired to the net on 15 minutes but Moylagh did likewise on 16 minutes and added a point before the final water break. Neil Dowdall and Dara Maguire and Mark O’Brien were introduced and brought fresh legs to the Bective side.
