Bective won the Tailteann Cup at Pairc Táilteann with a merited 2-9 to 1-6 verdict against Meath Hill in a game that started slightly later than scheduled due to extra-time in the u-17 FL final curtainraiser.
The first half was a low scoring affair with Bective shading the exchanges by 1-3 to 0-3 with Sean Keating’s goasl the crucial score.
Bective opened the scoring through Marty Mulhall in the fifth minute and five minutes later Ian Malone converted a Meath Hill free as the game got off to a relativey slow start.
Paul Mccabe and Keating added points for Bective while James Mooney and Mark Tully countered at the other end as that goal made the difference.
The going was tough in the second-half as both teams give it 100 per cent, but Bective had the edge in most departments and were ahead by 1-6 to 0-4 at the three-quarter stage. Bective kept picking off the points and when they carved the opening for a superb Cathal McConnell goal it sealed victory. Keith Ginnity claimed Meath Hill’s goal with the lack kick of the game.
