AFL Div 2 Round 3 Bective v Curraha

Bective played host to Curraha for this div. 2 league game on a fine, but cold, Sunday morning. Bective, with many positional changes and playing into a stiff breeze, got scoring underway with a fine worked goal finished by Sean Keating after a creative run by Cathal McConnell. Curraha, without county man James McEntee, fired over three points and level the score after 9 minutes. Mark O’Brien drives forward and McConnell and Keating combine again for Bective’s second goal a minute later. Curraha were not phased and kept scoring fine points and again gained parity after 20 minutes. Jack Grant is brought into defense and added strength and composure. Bective fire two points from Paul McCabe and Marty Mulhall (free), but Curraha add three and the half time score was Curraha 0-9, Bective 2-2.On the restart Bective have two more points on the board and after 15 minutes lead by one point. Ronan Garvey is introduced into the forward line for the injured McConnell. Bective increase their lead and kept the score board ticking over with points from Mulhall, McCabe, Keating and Jack Clarke. Curraha continue pressing but are held at bay by determined defending and with minutes left on the clock are only two points behind. The experienced Sean Keating showed his cool and gained and held great possession and fired over to go three ahead, and completed the scoring.
